I promised you a video of the Love & Relationships area of my house, but after posting last week I realized I needed to go back to my original floor plan of the bagua of my home. I kept thinking Love & Relationships was in my game room, but it's actually the back part of my kitchen - with my mudroom and a small part of my kitchen in my Fame & Reputation gua. I need to revisit this area to make sure I'm good. Once I've looked at this area again, I'll post a new video of both the Fame & Reputation and the Love & Relationships gua since they share the same area.
Until then, let's focus on the Creativity & Children gua of your home! Luckily for me - THIS is where my kids game room is.
Properly done, this area can help with fertility, it can help you find fulfillment with a hobby, have more creative ideas, improve your relationship with your children, become more comfortable showing the childlike sides of your personality and drumroll.......DETER THE AGING PROCESS.
Children and Creativity are put together because children are the embodiment of creation. But this area of your home is NOT just about having kids! This area helps with creativity across all aspects of your life. Children tend to think freely, with no limitations. Couldn't we all use this in our adult lives? From your front door, skip over to the area in the middle of the right hand wall in your home. This is the center of your Creativity gua.
ENHANCE CREATIVITY
Metal - Metal is THE element for this area of your home, so, the more metal, the better. I have a big metal peace sign in this gua. Other ideas include putting a silver battle rattle or silver spoon in this area. If this area is in your kitchen, do something creative with your pots and pans - it will help you get more creative with your cooking! Other good metals include: metal bells or wind chimes. If you can't put something permanent in this area, how about loose coins, eating utensils... if you're into rustic or industrial chic decor like I am, this one is easy.
White - White is THE color for this area of your home. Extra points for white metal! I have a white paper mache deer head.
Round Stuff - Circular of round items work perfectly here. Clocks, wheels, plates, gold or platinum records? Or, how about my round metal peace sign? Score!
Earth - Earth creates metal in the creative cycle, so get creative with the earth here! A plant in a round ceramic pot would work well here. Globes are good and I like my round terrariums here, as well!
Yellow - Yellow is the color that represents earth so incorporate it as much as possible (along with white).
Flat or Square Stuff - These shapes symbolize earth in feng shui. I have it easy because we've got laptops, pictures on the wall that are that are square, metal end tables, a long table the boys use as a desk and...
Television - this is the best place for a tv in your home.
Toys and Games - Seriously, now I remember why I used this as my game room and not the room on the other side of my house...
Candy - I don't necessarily house it here, but it sure does end up in here! Pictures of candy wrappers would work nicely here, too!
Parties - Like the Fame area of your home, this area loves the energy of a party.
Music - any and all.
Bells - Metal bells in this area will do a lot to enhance your creativity. Remember - bells don't have to be ringing, chimes moving or crystals reflecting light for them to be working for you in feng shui.
Symbols of Creativity - This can be anything, I like to use my kid's art as much as I can.
Symbols of Children - If you're trying to have a child (whether naturally or by adoption) enhance this area of your home with things that give the illusion the child is already there. Toys, booties, a baby blanket...
TROUBLE AREAS
Fire - Fire melts metal and is therefore, not welcome here. If you've got a fireplace here, you've got compromised metal. The most common cure for this is to place a mirror that visually dominates the fireplace. This is the equivalent to placing water over the fire. A metal grate in front of the fireplace is helpful. Or how about a row of vases on the mantle? Each holding water and a single flower in yellow or white. CANDLES AREN'T GOOD IN THIS AREA.
Red Stuff - Red keeps things heated up and we don't want our metal heated.
Triangular or Pointed Objects - These shapes represent fire.
DISCOVER THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
The Fountain of Youth exists and it's in your own home! No kidding, if you enhance this area of your home correctly, it really can make a difference in how you age. Find things that make your heart sing. Think about things that made you really happy when you were a kid and place reminders of them in this gua of your home. By surrounding yourself with things that remind you of things that made you happy in your youth, you can slow down the aging process. By mindfully creating an area of your home that make you feel alive and young - you're honoring this part of yourself and keeping it alive in your soul.
In summary, things you can do IMMEDIATELY in your Creativity & Children area:
- Hang a mirror over a fireplace
- Relocate candles out of this area
- Unblock anything that feels blocked (doors, doorways, drawers, etc)
- Add enhancements as necessary
Things that work well in this area: metal, white, round stuff, earth, yellow, flat or square stuff, tvs, toys and games, candy, magic tricks, parties, music, art, hobbies and crafts, bed, lights, bells, symbols of creativity, symbols of children.
Things to get rid of: fire, red, triangular or pointy objects.
