Welcome

Hi! Welcome to 420 Cougar Street, my new baby. Most of my career has revolved around my love of pop culture and celebrity. I wrote a celebrity gossip blog from 1999-2009. After I ended my blog, I moved into party planning. As the Founder of GossipCon I hosted celebrity gossip themed parties in New York City. I'm now working as a Celebrity Editor for a start up, creating unique celebrity experiences for people.

Earlier this year, my husband and I moved from our small apartment in Cobble Hill Brooklyn to a big 3 story colonial house in Montclair, NJ. While it was bittersweet leaving our beloved Brooklyn, the big house in an idyllic town was calling my name. You want to know what else was calling at me? "You have nothing to fill that house with!" AH! When we moved from the suburbs of Chicago to Brooklyn we got rid of everything! If it didn't fit in our new, tiny apartment - we gave it away. Now, faced with a big empty house we needed to fill we were filled with panic. How was I going to do this?

My first course of action: ask my friends on social media for advice. It had been so long since I had purchased furniture or major housewares, so I didn't know about One Kings Lane, Joss & Main, Dot & Bo....a new world began to open up for me. Affordable, nice looking furniture and accessories. Yay! I soon also found the "home" sections on Gilt, Rue La La, Haute Look, etc. I was well on my way!

I besieged my social media friends with pictures of my feng shui layouts, inspiration boards, floor plans and before/after pictures. As I was buying new things for our new house, I found myself buying a lot of things for entertaining. Our new house is so bright and welcoming - it begs to be a home filled with fun and entertaining friends.

Many people suggested I hire a decorator to help me with this huge project, but I refused. I really wanted to take on the challenge of creating beautiful home, perfect for my family. While I have already shared a lot, this blog will serve as a deeper look at the process I went through to design our home and it will move into all of the fun and easy ways I like to make my home feel like the nicest resort my guests or I have ever visited.

Your home should be your sanctuary. My home fills me with so much warmth and happiness. I think everyone deserves to feel this way in their home. I hope I can give you some ideas of how to make your home feel perfect for you.

Yikes! This was the foyer of our beautiful new home before we bought it. We didn't do the renovations to the house. It was purchased as a "flip" and the woman who did it, did an amazing job.

My jumbled feng shui chart

Floor plan of our house I put together as I decided what we needed in our new home and what we still needed to purchase.

Inspiration boards. This was the board I put together for our master bedroom.
