Feng Shui: Prosperity

Who doesn't want to be prosperous? Having wealth can be a gateway to so many other things in life. Does money buy happiness? No. But it sure does make life a little easier. I'm going to assume that, like me, you seek prosperity in life. 

Whether you would like a raise at work, have money for a dream vacation or even receive unexpected money, Chinese secrets used in this area of your home can help you achieve these goals. By moving things in the Prosperity corner of your home you can begin to live abundantly. 

From inside your front door, walk to the back left corner of your home. This is the Prosperity Gua of your home. What do you see? Is there clutter? A toilet? Do you have a leaking roof here? Let's spend some time focusing on what you can do to invite abundance of prosperity into your life.

CREATE PROSPERITY

Purple - Hands down purple is the best color for this area. While you may not be able to live with purple walls or a purple couch, this is where you want to add purple knickknacks - picture frames, amethyst, purple accent color. Just get your purple in here!

Red - Red adds excitement and energy and it's also a good color in this area.

Green - Anything green. This is a good area for those houseplants of yours! However, if you can't keep them alive - get a fake plant. A dead plant in your prosperity corner just isn't a good idea. Ideally, a round leaf plant like a jade plant or African violet get energy flowing. NO CACTUS!

Gold - I like to place a gold dish that holds coins. I've also used a gold colored planter for my green houseplant!

Symbols That Remind You of Prosperity - Piggy banks, that gold dish with the coins I mentioned above, anything that symbolizes money or abundance work well here. This is a great area of the home to remind yourself of the blessings you have in life - pictures of what or who you consider to be your blessings should live here. 

Moving Water - While moving water in your prosperity corner is great to get your cash flowing, a toilet in this area is NOT good! If you have one here, don't despair - we'll talk about how to balance it later. 

TROUBLE SPOTS

Dirt & Dust - Simply put, KEEP THIS AREA CLEAN. No clutter. 

No Broken Items - Why would you put a symbol of being broke in your prosperity corner? Never. 

Reminders of Broke or Bad Times - Move any pictures of a time in your life when you were broke out of this area. If you have cupboards, a fridge or shelves in this area make sure they aren't empty and bare. Ideas of what you can put here: if you have a fridge here, roll up a couple dollar bills so you always have cold, hard cash in your prosperity corner. Place a luxury item your fridge like a bottle of champagne.

Trash Cans - Don't do it. Please! But, if you have to (sigh) make sure it has a lid and also place a red line around the rim! You can use ribbon, tape, paint - even fingernail polish. 

Fireplaces - A fireplace here can give the suggestion that you are burning through money. If you have a fireplace here, balance it by using water here or placing a mirror over the mantle (mirrors = water in feng shui). 

The Dreaded Toilet - Nothing can suck the cash out of your wallet like a toilet in your prosperity corner. It's about the worst thing you can have here. Luckily, there are ways to "fix" it. I had a toilet in my prosperity corner when we lived in Brooklyn and my fixes protected our money from going down the toilet. Well, unless you consider that we were renting the apartment - which FEELS like money going down the toilet! But I digress...

If you have a toilet in your prosperity corner, try using mirrors all around the room. One on each wall.  If you don't like that idea, try placing small mirrors behind the toilet or in the tank. Make sure they are all facing UP. Another idea here is to place eye catching artwork up high. Draw attention up so the energy flows up and not down. 

Finally, two easy things to do are to always keep the toilet lid DOWN and close all drains when not in use. You can also use red ribbon, paint or polish  around the base of the toilet. 

Ultimately, for abundance and prosperity to come into your life you have to be open and ready for it. Take responsibility for your life and you'll see you can change and guide your course much more easily.  

In summary, the things you can do to IMMEDIATELY impact your prosperity corner are:

• Clean this section of your home.
• Remove broken items.
• No clutter.

Things to add to this area: purple, green, red, god, things that remind your of abundance, moving water, round leaf plants.

Things to get rid of in this area: dirt, dust, trash cans, broken items, reminders of bad times, fireplaces, toilets.
