Feng Shui: Relationships & Love

They say if you take care of the Relationships and Love gua of your home you can:
  • Find "the one"
  • Make a commitment
  • Get married
  • Get your groove back in your marriage
  • Get along better with friends and family
  • Learn to trust
Find your relationship corner. In my house, it's in my kid's game room. To find this gua, walk in your front door and back to the right hand corner of your home. Love isn't something you see. Love is something you feel. It's intuition that makes feng shui work, so look around and take a close look at your Relationships corner. How does it feel?

GET THE LOVE YOU DESERVE

Mirrors - Love is energy and energy is a living thing. Control the energy in this area by bouncing the energy around with multiple mirrors. Round ones work best.

Candles - Candles generate heat and energy. Heat up this corner and you heat up your love life.

Hot Tub - I don't think I have to say much here. The song says it all "Too hot in the hot tub!" If you are so inclined to have this tub of love - this is where you should put it!

Fresh Flowers - Any fresh flowers work well here. If you find it beautiful, it works.

Think Pink - Soft and satiny, fresh and frilly. Pink feels like love.

Anything Red - Absolutely anything red works powerfully in your Relationships corner.

Undergarments - I mean, you could. Since my Relationships corner is my kid's game room - I'll probably pass on this one.

Sensual Sounds - Get your Relationship Chi in the mood.

Symbols That Mean Love To You - ANYTHING that symbolizes love to you. A bottle of champagne, two of anything, bowl of Hershey's Kisses...

Equality - Make sure everything is balanced in this room. If it's your bedroom, make sure you have two night tables. This is especially important if you are single. Don't buy a set of tables and then break them up and use them in different rooms - it creates imbalance in your relationship.

TROUBLE SPOTS

Negative Images - Don't influence this area with negative images. No pictures of exes, either!

"Unfriendly" Stuff - Cactus or other plants that don't make a loving statement. No weapons here, either.

"Frigid" Stuff - If you have a refrigerator or air conditioner here, they are working against you!

"Single" Stuff - If you have a twin bed, balance it out by using two pillows. Lose photos of yourself alone here.

Games - You don't want game playing in your relationship, do you?

Uncleanliness - Create loving energy by keeping this area clutter free.

Storage - If you are looking for a relationship without baggage, don't use this area of your home for storage.

Distractions - If you have a tv in this area it could be coming between you and your mate. Likewise, computers and anything else distracting. If you have a tv in this area, consider covering it up. Draping it in cobalt blue is said to have EMF-negating properties.

TAKE THAT!

Is there someone making your life miserable? Try getting rid of them by placing a cactus in the FAME & REPUTATION area of your home with the exact intention of keeping this person away from you. Don't ever put a cactus in your Relationships corner - but when placed in Fame & Reputation with the intent to keep this certain person away from you, this is how to do it.

CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG?

Is there are person or people who you need to get along with, but you just can't? Try writing their name on a piece of paper with yours. To give it extra power, use red or pink paper and cut it out in the shape of a heart. Place this in your Relationships corner. If you have a group of people you would like to have better relationships with do the same thing - always using a separate piece of paper. These hearts don't need to be seen. Hide them, paint over them - feng shui doesn't have to be seen to work.

MAKE THAT BED!

When I was about 20 I was going through a hard time in my life. My younger sister had just died and I was drowning in sorrow. My dad, who was also grieving, took the time to write me a letter. In it, he told me how I needed to get my life back on track, that I couldn't let my grief take over. He suggested an easy way to start was to simply make my bed everyday.

My dad doesn't know anything about feng shui, but the advice he gave me does follow feng shui principles. No matter where your bed is in your home, it's a strong symbol of Relationships & Love. What do your bed and bedroom say about your life? Are they inviting? Does it feel like there is enough room for another person?

Remember when I said to make sure you use pairs in this gua? Make sure you think about this in your bedroom. Are you giving off signals that you'd prefer to sleep alone? If you sleep in a single bed with art depicting single people, you're inadvertently sending out the signal you prefer to be alone.

Immediately improve your relationships and love life:

  • Remove withering or dead stuff
  • Review your bed in your bedroom (we will address this tomorrow)
  • Add enhancements as necessary
  • Mirrors, candles, hot tubs, fresh flowers, pink, red, symbols of love, symbols of equality
Trouble Spots:

  • Negative images
  • "Unfriendly" stuff
  • "Frigid" stuff
  • "Single" stuff
  • Games
  • Uncleanliness
  • Storage
  • Distractions

COMING TOMORROW: Spice up your sex life! Learn to trust again. Where do I place my stinking bed, anyway?! And a video tour of MY Relationship & Love Gua - my children's game room (not easy)!
